Before and After

When it comes to selecting the exterior color scheme for your home you have more than just your house to consider! The exterior color scheme you select for your home can affect the entire street. That idea alone can become rather daunting! So how do you decide? Here are a few simple steps!

  1. Begin by planning around the elements that are hardest to change. This could include stone or brickwork, roofing, driveways and landscaping. Look for colors that will bring all of these elements together.
  2. Consider your home’s architectural style and era. The color that you select should be appropriate to the style of your home.
  3. Select three or more different paint shades. An exterior color scheme typically has three parts: (a) the dominate color; (b) the accent color – doors, shutters and small areas; and (c) trim color – windows and door casings, roof edging, railings, and other trim areas.

Never rely on a paint chip alone. Be sure you take your sample out to different areas of your home during different parts of the day to evaluate your color choice.

This beautiful home used Mastic Quest Dutch vinyl siding in Pebblestone Clay. Corner Posts, vents, soffits and downspouts were also completed in Pebblestone Clay. Architectural detail was added through Mastic’s fascia and gutters in Montana Suede.
